Abstract

Meiacanthus nigrolineatus Smith-Vaniz is a nemophininae blenny, living sedentarily around the shallow-water corals of the Red Sea. Unlike intertidal blennies, individuals of this species feed and perform various types of behaviour in the open water above their rocky retreats or, as adults, above their territories. In this paper various types of behaviour are analysed.
