Mono- and Bis-(2,2'- bipyridine) and (1,10-phenanthroline) chelates of ruthenium and osmium. V. Mixed 2,2'-bipyridine and 2,2',2'-terpyridine chelates of bivalent and tervalent osmium

Abstract

Complexes of the type [OsterpyCl₃]⁰, [Osterpypy₃]^2+/3+, [OsterpybipyX]^+/2+, [Osterpypy₂Cl]^+/2+, [Osterpybipy(pyR)]^+/2+ where X = Cl, Br, I, NCS, NO₂, C₂H₅CN, CH₃CN; R = CH₃, C₂H₅, CH(CH₃)₂; terpy = 2,2',2"-terpyridine, bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, and py = pyridine, have been isolated as their halides or perchlorates. The complexes do not disproportionate and are inert to dissociation of their ligands.
