Nitrones and oxazirans. IV. Attempted intramolecular cycloaddition of unsaturated 1-pyrroline 1-oxides; pyrolysis of these compounds and their related oxazirans

Abstract

The possibility of thermal or photochemical intramolecular cycloaddition processes is discussed, but no evidence for such reactions was found in the compounds investigated. The pyrolysis of some 2-phenyl- and 2-styryl-substituted 1-pyrroline 1-oxides results in the formation of the related pyrrolines. The same products are generally observed in the similar pyrolytic decomposition of the isomeric oxazirans.
