Abstract
Decyanation of 9-allylfluorene-9-carbonitrile and 2,2-diphenylpent-4-enenitrile is effected with lithium aluminium hydride to a greater extent than reduction to the corresponding amines. Related diphenylacetonitriles undergo reduction only.
