Abstract

The Australian species of Penthalodidae are revised and six species are illustrated and described or redescribed: Stereotydeus areolatus Womersley, S. australicus Thor, S. brevipalpus, sp. nov., S. occidentalis Womersley, S. pseudopulcher, sp. nov., and S. tasmanicus, sp. nov. A key is provided to separate these six species. Penthalodes australicus Womersley does not belong to the Penthalodidae and its family placement is uncertain.
