Thyroxine binding in sheep serum

Abstract

The thyroxine-binding capacities of sheep thyroxine-binding proteins (TBP) can be conveniently measured by reverse-flow electrophoresis. Values were found to be within the range 11-16 µg thyroxine/100 ml serum. No differences could be detected between the patterns of thyroxine binding by the sera of pregnant and non-pregnant sheep maintained under similar conditions of husbandry.
